Our
Journey

Since 2012, The Malpa Project has been supporting First Nations children to become health leaders in their own communities.

What is "Malpa"?

"Malpa" is a Pintupi/Warlpiri/Luritja word which means 'friends on the journey'. The organisation was given permission to use this term by former Malpa Director and Warlpiri Elder, Rex Granites Japanangka.

Malpa is a grass roots organisation focused on improving primary health care and well-being within Aboriginal communities. Our approach is a culturally derived and driven, school-based, curriculum-aligned, health and well-being project for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students.

We work in schools across NSW, NT, SA, VIC and WA in communities that have high Aboriginal populations and have invited Malpa to work with them to enable healthier and more positive futures.

Our Focus

Improving primary health care and well-being within Aboriginal communities through school-based, curriculum-aligned projects.

Our Reach

Building trusting and collaborative relationships in schools across NSW, NT, SA, VIC and WA.

The Young Doctors Way

The Young Doctors program is not just about health education; it's aboutleadership. We recognize that children are the most effective health messengers in their families.

By equipping them with knowledge about nutrition, hygiene, and mental health—all grounded in their own culture—we create a sustainable, community-led improvement in health outcomes.
